Graduate Environmental Health Officer
- Band 5A salary of $82,908.10 per annum (pro rata 0.8EFT salary of $66,326.48) plus 12% super and annual leave loading.
- Temporary part-time position of 4 days per week until 31 December 2026
- Located at 32 Civic Drive, Greensborough, VIC 3088
About the role:
Join our team as Graduate Environmental Health Officer where no two days are the same! In this rewarding role, you will work closely with the community to support public health and wellbeing while developing your technical knowledge and practical skills in environmental health.
This is a temporary part-time, office-based position worked over four set days each week, designed to provide structure and support as you transition into the profession. The specific working days can be agreed between you and Council, offering flexibility to balance your learning, professional development, and other commitments while gaining valuable hands-on experience.
A typical day might include:
- Visit local food businesses and aquatic facilities to carry out compliance checks and provide advice on safe practices
- Assist with wastewater and septic system assessments, helping to protect our natural environment
- Support investigations into public health matters such as nuisance complaints, pest control, or pollution issues
- Work alongside qualified Environmental Health Officers, gaining hands-on experience while contributing to real projects that make a difference in the community
- Respond to customer enquiries, offering practical guidance and building positive relationships with local residents and businesses.
What you will bring to the role:
- A tertiary qualification in Environmental Health or a related discipline, with eligibility for membership of Environmental Health Professionals Australia; or
- Currently undertaking an Environmental Health-related qualification, with expected completion in 2026. Applications from students nearing completion of their studies will be considered
- Valid driver's licence
- Strong customer service and communication skills, you'll enjoy engaging with the community and building positive relationships
- Ability to plan, organise and manage your own workload effectively
- Team player with a collaborative approach and commitment to workplace safety.
